It has been pointed out and observed that the Magnetic North Pole is slowly moving for some centuries, wherein its movement depicts a relatively slow change rate from the 1600s up to the early 1990s. For all these long years, there was an account that it moved at around 10 to 15 kilometers per year. However, in the late 20th century, this long-term established movement rate quickly changed. The early years of the 2000s appeared to bound upward before us; actually, great change was occurring at the alarming rate of about 55 kilometers yearly. This great movement of ice warranted more consistent observations and very detailed studies of its path with greater vigilance.
